| The album Overbrook was written about an abandoned mental institution, high atop an eerie mountain ridge in Northern New Jersey. Research of this historic 2 square mile facility, revealed evidence of patients being tortured and experiments being performed before it's closure in the early 1950's. |
| Stormtide's guitarist spent long nights exploring this haunting maze.....Imagining the insanity and feeling the bone chilling history of this darkened assylum, even spending time with a former doctor, who himself lost his mind and was later committed to an institution. The main courtyard, made up of 4 connecting buildings soared up to 5 stories high, but seemed like sky scrapers as you cautiously creeped through it's sole entry. The connections between the buldings were on different floors and all four connected underground in the hallowed basement 2 stories down. Littered with old operating tables, hospitals beds and graphic wall graffitti and a creamatory oven, made the basement the Ultimate Trip....... |
| Winds constantly howled through the broken windows as walls creeked and a constant shrill of nosies echoed through the halls. Being located on the grounds of a State Prison and a great attraction to the homeless and those on the run, it was the ultimate terror. Incidents did occur, though not nearly as often as the rumors and fabled stories would indicate......Had anybody actually been killed in this abandoned institution...Yes........Imagine the torture the patients endured...The suffering...The familes they lost and the people who forgot they were human beings. The inspiration for the album was realizing how close to the edge we lived.....Mystified by past insanity...Spending endless days and nights there, convinced it could never happen to you........Transforming yourself to them, until you start becoming part of it....Welcome to Overbrook... Welcome to The edge............. |
